It was Grandprize's 70th birthday week so we drove to EC on Sunday for a day trip and some birthday cake and lasagna. The weather was gorgeous and the trip mostly uneventful...except a slight feeling that the transmission was slipping. Grandma Irene as there and everybody got to chat and hang out for awhile to celebrate the birthday. Ella had to work, but we met her at the coffee shop and caught up before the party. Sophia made the drive up from LaX to join us for the afternoon. All in all just a great multigenerational weekend and a fleeting rarity that we get to see all the kids in a single day. Basketball is officially over for Grace and we went to Appleton last week to try out for a traveling summer Lacrosse league...which she made without surprise. Her tryout was solid and showed off her skills on both sides of the ball. Open turf is wrapping up as the HS team will move into their first WIAA season as the "GhostBirds." Last night she had her last (likely) solo ensemble and played in the brass as well percussion ensembles. Her friends in the percussion needed her to fill in on the cymbals so she obliged them. Merrick has been hitting the outdoor links and getting some swings in for the pre-season of Golf and the team tryouts are coming up soon, next week. He also locked himself up a summer job and we head out in a few weeks to visit two colleges as he starts to get ready for the next stage.
