The Fall has been phenomenal, a great time of year and the weather has been warmer than normal. Halloween came and went without any rain or snow which was a nice change of pace. Ella and Sophia handed out candy and Ella made a couple of quick swings through the neighborhood but between the nuts and the nugget there isn't a lot of treats she can eat this year. Grace and Merrick hooked up with friends to trick or treat the neighborhood and Amy and I walked along, because some of the houses hand out adult treats! The roads are so clogged with pedestrian traffic and the occasional golf cart that driving a car is ill advised. Ella had no interested in any part of the krauting project but Grace loved all aspects from being the smasher to helping us hand pack what ultimately became almost 4 gallons of excellent kraut. We made good use of the warm weather and hiked Baird creek and the timing was perfect with the maple leaves making a carpet of gold on the forest floor. The Baird is just a great gem in and even after so many times we still found new trails to hike. the pumpkins were picked a county away and carved. Graces pumpkin required no gutting as the insides had rotted out and all we had to do was cut the top and dump it out. Between that and the warm temps there were plenty of flies outside adding to the spooky jack-o-lanterns!
