Some Old, Some New and little tried and true these past few days. A recap in no particular order. Sophia had a birthday and we all headed over for a full family Sushi meal. The table has quite a spread when we all order rolls to share. Merrick gave up on his burger eating and agreed to join us in sushi experience, his first roll (buffalo) was well received and he unknowingly stepped up to full sashimi sushi with yellow fin from the rainbow roll. It ended up in his napkin...but he continued on. Sophia also was able to hook Merrick up with a job for the summer and got him Trained as a life guard adding those long days in the sun with starting drivers ed and he is keeping his summer pretty full. But he is still getting his Karate work outs in and is playing golf once a week in a summer league. And, Him, Grace and I managed to sneak in a quick round of frolf one Sunday afternoon. Plenty of trash talk and chocolate malts on the way home. Grace wrapped up her Summer basketball season before heading to a team camp in Stevens Point. The Camp was three days long and had 3 or 4 games a day with plenty of team building activities to fill in the rest of the time. She is working hard to get a spot on the high school team this year. Grace was available to join us in Boot lake for a day trip to the beach (with a friend). We played in the kayaks a little and the girls swam before heading back home after dinner. The trip home we saw a bear and I got pulled over for speeding, luckily I just got a verbal warning (it is good to be an old guy). Fathers day found us downtown for the murals/buskers festival, which seemed smaller this year. We watch a unicyclist ride a unicorn about 12 feet off the ground. He was pretty funny and did a good job working the crowd. We grabbed some jalapenos on the way home for grilled poppers (many of which burned) and played some Kubb. We picked some really small, flavorless and expensive strawberries one morning. It was the second time we got burned at that field, maybe it will sink in before we go back there next year. But Grace did make some great strawberry Scone(like things). Ella is prepping for her Peru trip and switched up jobs we see her only slightly more often than Sophia.
